Liam Lawson: We need to earn points this weekend

The RB team continues to fight for sixth place in the Constructors’ Championship. The team from Faenza is currently in eighth place, four points behind Haas, but Liam Lawson and Yuki Tsunoda hope to bounce back in Qatar.

Yuki Tsunoda: “Since the second training in Las Vegas we started to understand better how to work with the car. I hope it will be the same this weekend. I am optimistic that we will perform strongly in the coming race, even though we are going from a circuit with long straights and 90 degree bends to one with fast, flowing corners.

Last year it was very hot in Qatar, but that didn’t really bother me. This year the stage will take place a month later, so the weather will be more comfortable. Last year all drivers could complete a maximum of 18 laps on one set of tires due to problems with curbs, but now the problem has been resolved and we will develop a strategy for the race from scratch.

We only have one more practice session before we qualify for the sprint, so I will focus on the speed of the car so that we can continue to fight for sixth place in the Constructors’ Championship.”

Liam Lawson: “The circuit in Qatar is difficult, and last year’s race turned out to be perhaps the most difficult of the season for me. The temperatures were very high and I am hoping for cooler weather this year. But the track is very fast, so I’m looking forward to the podium.

The weekend is held in a sprint format, which makes the task more difficult. Much work still needs to be done to find the optimal settings for sprint qualifying. This weekend we need to earn points as the team continues to fight for sixth place in the Constructors’ Championship. To do this you have to try to get the most out of the car.”
