Helmut Marko reiterated once again that the decision on the composition of Red Bull Racing for next season will be made after the last race in Abu Dhabi. Speaking to the press in Qatar, RB driver Yuki Tsunoda wondered why he was not seriously considered as a replacement for Sergio Perez.
Yuki Tsunoda: “If we remember history, a driver from our team, who was regularly ahead of his teammates for years, was promoted. It was kind of a natural process. I don’t know, maybe something has changed now. The dynamics have changed, Red Bull itself has changed after the death of Dietrich Mateschitz. I don’t know what’s going on.
One of their drivers fights for the title and becomes champion. The team has been successful for a long time. I’m not saying they’re doing anything bad, but I don’t quite understand why I, among others, continue to be disregarded. I can’t find a reason why Red Bull doesn’t talk about me. Let’s see what happens next.
There is one more test day waiting for me at Red Bull, but as I understand it these will only be tests. At least based on what they’ve been saying all year at Red Bull, and what I see, I feel like the upcoming tests are just tests, nothing more.
The two remaining races are definitely more important than the tests. I hope I make a better impression in the tests and that they see what kind of driver I am. But I think from the point of view of fighting for a place in the team, the next two races are more important than the tests.”
