The key sessions in Qatar take place after sunset, but in the evening it was not warm and there was less sand on the asphalt than normal. For the second year in a row, the Tour of Qatar included a sprint on Saturday, the only training session was very important and the riders rushed to the track.
Almost everyone rode the first set of laps on Medium, only Albon, Sainz and Leclerc started the session on Hard. Charles and topped the protocol with 1:23.702.
Traffic was in the way. Perez, Piastri and Hulkenberg went off the track at Turn 15, the lap was cancelled, but the cars were not damaged.
In the second half of the session the drivers switched to Soft, but even on the softest tires Leclerc remained the leader of the session with 1:21.953.
In a few hours the qualifying for the sprint will take place at the Losail circuit.
