A few weeks ago we wrote that a Qatari fund is ready to invest in the Audi factory team in Formula 1. Today this was officially announced.
Qatar’s sovereign wealth fund (QIA) has signed an agreement to acquire a significant minority stake in Sauber Holding AG, which will become the Audi team in 2026. QIA thus becomes a long-term investor and partner of the project. QIA’s investments will focus on expanding the team’s infrastructure.
Gernot DollnerCEO of Audi AG: “QIA’s investment reflects the trust already earned in Audi F1 and underlines Audi’s continued commitment to this project.
The additional capital will accelerate the team’s growth and mark a new milestone in our long-term strategy. QIA’s participation strengthens the targeted efforts at the bases in Hinwil and Neuburg, where preparations for Audi’s debut in 2026 continue.”
