Alpine technical director David Sanchez said the team’s progress following recent updates was a pleasant surprise…
David Sanchez: “After preliminary calculations, we had an idea of what effect to expect – and that’s exactly what we saw on track. But we wondered: if we increase the efficiency of the machine, what will this lead to? And the result was a pleasant surprise: we took valuable places.
Importantly, the latest changes have not only made the car faster, but also easier to drive. This is exactly what we were aiming for. However, as you add more and more downforce, it’s important not to overdo it. But the modernization has improved the driving experience, and that is what we aimed for.
All of our base employees felt satisfied as we saw some successes and failures from different teams in the modernization space this year. We still had questions and when we saw that everything was working well on the track, we gained confidence.”
