Yuki Tsunoda showed the fourteenth fastest time in qualifying for the Qatar Grand Prix and admitted that the speed of the car did not allow you to expect more. His teammate RB Liam Lawson finished the battle in the first session, posting the seventeenth fastest time.
Yuki Tsunoda (14th): “Not the easiest day. When we talk about speed, we are at the same level as Friday. In the first part of qualifying I got stuck in traffic and was on the edge, but luckily I was able to move forward. Then I worked through the second session neatly and gave it my all. Unfortunately the car didn’t have the speed and fourteenth place turned out to be our maximum.
We will study the data collected during the sprint and qualifying to understand what we can improve during the race. It will not be easy, but we will try to do everything in our power and achieve the maximum.”
Liam Lawson (17th): “I was in traffic at the start of my last lap, and when the lead is a few hundredths, it’s worrying. The tires were not quite ready for the attempt, which was reflected in the speed at the start of the lap. I couldn’t improve on the result of the first attempt and ended up in this position.
It will be difficult in the race because we also had problems in the sprint. The team will continue to work as hard as possible and we will try to find an opportunity to make things right on track.”
