Hulkenberg: Qualifying was hampered by a car problem

On Saturday, Nico Hulkenberg earned points in the sprint, but in qualifying he dropped out of contention in the first session. Kevin Magnussen reached the final…

Nico Hulkenberg (18th): “It’s nice to get points on Saturday, we rarely do this, so it’s twice as nice. The car was fast in the sprint and we were able to keep Red Bull behind us.

In qualifying there was a technical problem with the recuperation, we couldn’t use all the energy during acceleration, and here it is expensive, so I left the race early.

I will try to make up for it, although it is very difficult to overtake in Losail – on Saturday the races turned out to be static, but we will do our best.”

Kevin Magnussen (10th): “Tenth place in the sprint is the best possible result, taking into account the starting position.

I’m happy that I made it to the final of the qualification. Without the mistake in Turn 10 we could have gained another position.

But I’m still happy with the starting position, tomorrow we have a long race ahead of us, I hope we can show the same pace as in the sprint and earn some points. The most important thing is that we qualified ahead of Alpine and RB; they are our goal. Gasly will start right behind me, on the free side of the track, so the battle will be intense.”
