The second race of the F1 Academy women’s series of the weekend was supposed to take place in Qatar on Sunday afternoon, but the start was first postponed for a long time, after which the race was canceled completely.
Originally scheduled to start at 2 p.m., all 16 drivers and their teams waited patiently on the grid while the track fence, damaged during the Porsche Carrera Middle East Cup, was repaired.
After about half an hour of waiting, the race organizers made the so-called unpopular decision to cancel the race, as otherwise they would have to make adjustments to the overall weekend schedule, and this was important to avoid.
The cancellation of Sunday’s race means Abbie Pulling, who secured her title early the day before, has lost the chance to showcase her skills as F1 Academy champion. However, all potential participants in the race regret the cancellation, but perhaps especially the French Dorian Pin, who would start today from pole after yesterday’s victory.
The riders can only console themselves with the fact that the final stage of the season in Abu Dhabi is just around the corner.
