Hamilton: The race did not go well from the start

Of the Mercedes drivers, only George Russell, who took 4th place, earned points this weekend. Although he also complained after the finish that the car did not have enough speed, his difficulties are difficult to compare with his partner’s problems.

Who was unlucky during the Qatar Grand Prix was Lewis Hamilton; suffice it to say that the race started with a false start for him.

George Russell (4th): “Today we just didn’t have enough pace. After the pit stop I couldn’t even stay ahead of Fernando Alonso and Guanyu Zhou. It seemed like the speed we showed on Friday and Saturday had somehow disappeared. And this applies to both cars – mine, Lewis Hamilton’s W15. Now it is important to understand why this happened.

Even if I had gotten Medium tires after the pit stop instead of hard ones as I wanted, it wouldn’t have changed the situation much. I still don’t think we can get above fourth place.”

Lewis Hamilton (12th): “Today everything went far from well, but things like this happen sometimes. You should not judge me by the number of failures, because tomorrow I will still wake up with the desire to continue the struggle.

The race didn’t go well from the start: I made a false start and it was my own fault, so I got a fine, which was served during the pit stop.

The car and I don’t get along as well as we used to. But from the beginning of the weekend we found ourselves in an unfavorable situation. Suffice to say there wasn’t enough downforce, my partner and I had different car setups and it was quite difficult to drive.

Then I accidentally got a flat tire and then, partly through my own fault, I went too fast into the pit lane. But today the car showed serious understeer because the angle of attack of the front wing was not high enough. I did everything I could, but the problems seemed to keep piling up.

The next race weekend is only a week away and we will try to do better in Abu Dhabi. In any case, these last failed races do not detract from our performance with the team…”
