James Vowles, commenting on the sad results of the Qatar Grand Prix, did not even try to hide how upset he was, because the series of failures for the Williams team continues, and with each subsequent trouble his position only becomes more complicated.
James Vowles: “Obviously the end of the season was very difficult for us, not at all what we would have wanted. Both cars were damaged at a very unfortunate time when we were running low on spare parts.
We will participate in the race in Abu Dhabi and will field two cars, but to continue the battle and remain competitive, we need to make a huge effort in the coming days.
In Qatar our form was worse than normal and that still needs to be analyzed. It’s strange that we turned back when some of our opponents were able to improve. You have to figure out what needs to be done to move forward. It is important to understand what changes need to be made to the way we work.
Ahead is the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, the last race of the season. The season is very long, it has taught us a lot, but behind the scenes at the Williams base, serious work has been going on all the time to modernize the infrastructure. I can only promise that we will try to end the season with confidence, and for that we will have to gather all our strength in the championship final.”
