Qualification
After winning qualifying in Qatar, Max Verstappen won the 41st pole position of his career and ninth of the season, but was stripped of it by a stewards’ decision.
George Russell qualified second, but after a stewards’ decision he took pole and started from the front row for the third time in a row – this is his best result of his career.
Lando Norris showed for the third time and defeated his teammate for the 19th time this season. Oscar Piastri’s fourth place is his best result since he beat second place in Baku six races ago.
Charles Leclerc qualified fifth – the same as during qualifying for the sprint.
Lewis Hamilton set the sixth fastest time and lost to Russell for the 18th time in qualifying.
Carlos Sainz qualified seventh – the first time at this circuit that both Ferrari cars started in the top ten.
Sergio Perez ended a three-race streak without qualifying for the final round of qualifying, with ninth place being his best starting position in Qatar.
After qualifying tenth, Kevin Magnussen reached the qualifying final for the third time this season.
12th place is Guanyu Zhou’s best result of the season, as he was ahead of teammate Valtteri Bottas in qualifying for the second weekend in a row.
For the second weekend in a row, Alex Albon was eliminated in the first part of qualifying, while Liam Lawson was eliminated for the first time this year.
Race
After winning the Qatar Grand Prix, Max Verstappen achieved the 63rd victory of his career, the ninth of the season and the second in a row in Losail. Max has surpassed 3,000 career points (now 3,015.5), behind Sebastian Vettel (3,098 points) and Lewis Hamilton (4,850.5 points).
Charles Leclerc finished second, achieving his 42nd career podium and 12th of the season. Damon Hill and Mark Webber had the same number of podiums. Charles closed the gap with McLaren’s Lando Norris in the battle for second place in the Drivers’ Championship to eight points.
Oscar Piastri finished third, his tenth time in his career and eighth time on the podium of the season.
George Russell finished fourth in a Mercedes, in the same position as in the 2023 Qatar Grand Prix.
Pierre Gasly’s fifth place moved Alpine back to sixth in the constructors’ championship. This is the 70th race in which Gasly scores points.
Sixth place is Carlos Sainz’s best result in Qatar.
By finishing seventh, Fernando Alonso ended Aston Martin’s run of four straight races. Of the 400 Grand Prix in which Alonso started, he achieved 263 points, his performance was 65.75%.
Guanyu Zhou finished the race in eighth place and repeated his career-best result, which he achieved in Canada’2022. Guanyu brought Sauber its first points this season.
His teammate Valtteri Bottas’s eleventh place is the Finn’s best result this season.
Lando Norris finished tenth with the fastest lap. McLaren leads the Constructors’ Championship, 21 points ahead of Ferrari. During the season finale in Abu Dhabi, 44 points can be earned.
