Leclerc: I would happily accept second place

Charles Leclerc is happy with second place in Qatar, his teammate Carlos Sainz finished sixth – the battle for victory in the Constructors’ Championship continues next week…

Charles Leclerc (2nd): “I’m happy. If someone had said before the start of the weekend that I would finish second on this track, I would have happily agreed, because that doesn’t suit our car.

We knew that this weekend would probably be more difficult for us than for our rivals from McLaren, but in the end we were even able to take back a few points from them, so the battle will continue until the finish of the last race of the season. season next week in Abu Dhabi.

Now it is difficult to say how fast we will be in Abu Dhabi – the results are very close, the speeds are almost equal. The fight will be tense but interesting. It won’t be easy to win back 21 points, but anything is possible. For our part, we will give everything.”

Carlos Sainz (6th): “Today we lost more than we won. I was well behind Charles, but got a flat tire in the last corner. I simply didn’t have time to enter the pit lane and had to do another lap, losing a lot of time.

I was very unlucky – it’s a pity that this happened, because there was an opportunity to earn more points. The race went well until the puncture, but sometimes that’s how it goes.”
