Wolff: We are ready to write the final chapter with Lewis

The race in Abu Dhabi will be Lewis Hamilton’s last for Mercedes. Manager Toto Wolff thanked the seven-time world champion and spoke about the team goals for the final race weekend of the season.

Toto Wolff: “After twelve incredible years, we are ready to write the final chapter of our racing story with Lewis. It was quite a journey. When we started working together in 2013, we had no idea what to expect. Six drivers’ titles, eight constructors’ championships, 84 wins, 78 pole positions and 153 podiums. This is the most successful collaboration between driver and team in the history of Formula 1. We have had many great moments and together we have overcome some crushing lows.

Our relationships mean much more than numbers and statistics. It’s a legacy that extends beyond the sport and has a lasting impact beyond the track. It aims to increase diversity in our sport and fight for inclusivity. Lewis was the catalyst for all of this and we are proud and honored to have worked hand in hand with him. This work does not stop at the end of the year, but began thanks to the impetus given by Lewis.

This coming weekend we will celebrate everything we have achieved together. Lewis’ connection with Mercedes spans 26 years. So far, every stage of his career has been accompanied by a three-pointed star. Next week we will pay tribute to this unprecedented history in Abu Dhabi, visiting Kuala Lumpur, Stuttgart and finally Brixworth and Brackley. We will pay our respects knowing that even though this phase of our relationship is coming to an end, Lewis will always be part of our family.

Now we are fully focused on the race weekend. There is no better way to celebrate the end of our partnership than with a strong performance on the track. The entire team is focused on adding another highlight to their story.

We want to end the season with a strong result as this will help us maintain the momentum into the winter and beyond as we open the next chapter of our story in 2025. With George Russell as main driver and Kimi Antonelli as a talented debutant, the future looks bright. But let’s end this chapter well. Thanks Lewis! Let’s do this one last time.”
