Tsunoda impressed by Franz Toast .’s physical form

After his debut season, Yuki Tsunoda admitted that he underestimated the required fitness level and increased the load during training, but still does not experience the same enthusiasm that the team leader, 66-year-old Franz Tost, has.

Yuki Tsunoda: Franz was in better shape than me last year. In previous years I haven’t had as many problems as I had in my debut season in Formula 1.

Franz gets up at 4:30 or 5:00 in the morning and at 5:30 he goes for a 10-mile run, even in winter, which I’ve never done. I am impressed with how he trains every day, how much effort he puts into these workouts. I don’t know how old he is, about 60, but he is in excellent shape.

This year I am more careful with my form. I have been actively preparing for this season to avoid such a situation.”

Franz Toast: “Yuki doesn’t get up at five in the morning to run with me! He just looks at me. But I don’t run with it either. Running is not his discipline, besides he has his own training regime.

I talked a lot with his coach. Every Formula 1 driver must also take a test at the Red Bull Fitness Center to determine their weaknesses. The results of this test form the basis for further development, because every athlete is unique. The riders follow an individual program, also Yuki, and I have full confidence in his coach.”
