Council takes sides with Lewis Hamilton in dispute with neighbors

In 2017, Mercedes driver Lewis Hamilton bought a two-storey townhouse in Kensington, one of the most prestigious areas of the British capital. Since then, the British racer has had regular disputes with neighbors over the rebuilding of the area adjacent to the 1860 mansion.

Initially, Lewis was not allowed to build a summer house on the property after complaints from neighbors. In 2020, the construction of a patio and gazebos that would block the light from one of the neighbors caused controversy, but then the racer got all the necessary building permits.

New reports from the fields of neighboring battles relate to Lewis’s desire to cut down the irgi tree near his home. Neighbors have complained to the Royal Borough Council of Kensington and Chelsea that Hamilton is “destroying nature”. Experts examined the tree that the racer was about to cut down and concluded that it was “largely dead”, after which the Council gave Lewis permission to cut the tree. In addition, the Council has authorized the pruning of the magnolia.

A spokesman for the rider told the BBC that “the tree in question is very much to Lewis’ liking, but unfortunately the tree maintenance and care specialists recommended that it be felled. Lewis followed the advice and planted sakura instead, which is very a sawn one.”

Earlier, Lewis Hamilton was given permission to prune a horse chestnut tree that attracted pigeons that littered the rider’s yard.
