Timo Glock believes Mick Schumacher will stay in Formula 1

One of the questions of interest to many now relates to Mick Schumacher’s future career prospects. The son of the seven-time world champion does not yet have a contract for next year and because of his 12 points earned in only two races – at Silverstone and Spielberg.

For comparison we can mention the performance stats of Kevin Magnussen, his Haas F1 teammate: an experienced Dane finished in the top ten in five of the 13 stages, scoring 22 points.

According to Timo Glock, a former Formula 1 driver and now an expert for the German TV channel Sky Deutschland, Schumacher found himself in a difficult situation.

“The question is whether he is in talks with other teams? But there is a second point: is Haas interested in extending his contract or maybe they need a driver who brings in a lot of money. In this case, Mick will have a hard time, says Glock – As the team has lost support from Russian sponsors, it will have to resolve the funding issue, which could be the deciding factor that will determine Mick’s future.

So far there is no information that any decisions have been made. It all depends on how long the negotiations last. If Mick discusses something with the other teams and an agreement is reached, it can happen quickly. If serious disagreements arise between parties, everything can be delayed.

Such uncertainty, of course, always affects the rider’s work. But at the same time, his psychological preparation is also put to the test. Lately we have seen that Schumacher is fine with this, he will not be thrown off balance by all kinds of factors. Although he didn’t start earning points right away, he calmly waited for his chance.

That’s why I still believe that Mick will have the opportunity to stay in Formula 1 and show his talent. Before the summer break, he performed with great confidence at various stages – it is clear that he is making progress, and this is very positive. That is why I am sure that we will also see Mick in Formula 1 in 2023. But I am curious as to which team he will play in.
