Mick Schumacher: I’m fully loaded and ready to fight!

Mick Schumacher is ready to fight in the second half of the season and is ready to prove that he deserves a place in Formula 1…

Q: Mick, welcome back after the holidays. What did you do on holiday and how do you start the second part of the season?
Mick SchumacherA: I’m glad to be back. I haven’t raced for three weeks, it was unusual at first, but now I miss racing.

I spent most of my vacation on the island with my family and friends. Enjoyed the tranquility on a yacht, swam in the sea, ate in good company – and I’m glad I barely gained weight.

Hopefully we will earn more points in the second part of the season. In anticipation of the race on tracks that suit our car, although there are also tracks that do not fit. But Formula 1 is unpredictable, crazy things can always happen. I hope that we are lucky in such races and that we will earn a lot of points. We are back to work, we will do our best at every stage and hopefully we will succeed. I’m fully charged and ready to fight!

Question: Stage 14 takes place on the legendary Spa circuit, where unforgettable sports moments have taken place for decades. What do you like about this song and what memories does it bring back to you?
Mick Schumacher: The Spa has a legendary circuit, but that’s not all. The circuit in Spa is a historic place for our family and for me personally. I did some very good races there too, like in 2018, but there was also one of the worst. The circuit of Spa has had many ups and downs, but this stage will always be special for all of us.

Q: Eau Rouge and Raidillon have changed relegation zones this year, with gravel catchers added to different corners. Do you welcome these changes?
Mick SchumacherA: Changes are always welcome, as long as they are aimed at improving security. I don’t think they will affect the steering as this is a high speed track so it will stay that way.

Q: This weekend a new technical guideline that measures machine build-up will come into effect. How does the VF-22 behave, are you used to this problem?
Mick Schumacher: At the beginning of the year, everyone was surprised by the emergence of such an unexpected problem. The biggest was the build-up in Baku, but since then we’ve been playing on relatively flat courts and the build-up didn’t cause such painful sensations anymore. Obviously there are some physical limits, each team has its own, but our car is less prone to build up than many others.
