The weekend in Imola was not easy for Lewis Hamilton. He did not qualify for the final and did not score any points in the race.
In an interview with RacingNews365.com, former Formula 1 driver John Watson said Lewis will return to his usual level once he gets a competitive car.
John Watson: “Mercedes is not currently in the fray. It was embarrassing to watch Max Hamilton lead by a lap over Imola. I can imagine how happy Max was and how Lewis felt when he saw the blue flags.
I think this contributed to Hamilton’s sporting rage after, in my opinion, unfair arbitration in Abu Dhabi, when he was stripped of his eighth championship title. Now everything is complicated by the fact that Mercedes does not have a fast car with which you can fight for the championship.
But when they get back on par with Ferrari and Red Bull, we’ll see the old Lewis who we know well from previous seasons.”
