Daniel Ricciardo leaves McLaren at the end of the season

McLaren Racing and Daniel Ricciardo have agreed to end the contract before 2023 and agree that the Australian will leave the team at the end of the current season.

The lineup for the 2023 season will be confirmed shortly.

Daniel Riccardo: “Being part of the McLaren Racing family for two seasons is a great honor for me. But after several months of discussions with Zach and Andreas, we have decided to end my contract with the team ahead of schedule and split up at the end of the season.

I will announce my plans in due course, but whatever they turn out to be, I have no regrets and am proud of the commitment and work McLaren have done, especially the win over Monza last season.

I have enjoyed working with all the McLaren staff on the track and in Woking, until the end of the season I will do my best for the team. I’ve never been more motivated to fight in a sport I love so much and I’m looking forward to what’s to come.”

Andreas Seidli, Team Principal: “I would like to thank Daniel for his dedication and contribution to the team over two seasons. Despite the difficulties, he always distinguished himself with a fighting spirit and a positive attitude that helped the team move forward.

We will never forget his unforgettable victory in Monza, which was an important boost for the team. Together with Daniel and Lando, we will continue to fight for positions in the Constructors’ Championship until the end of the season.”

Zach Brown, CEO of McLaren Racing: “By joining the team, Daniel has been a great asset to McLaren and it has been a pleasure to work with him. I want to thank him for all his efforts over the past two seasons, both on track and on base.

It’s no secret that we hoped to achieve more together, but it was great to see him on the top step of the podium as a McLaren driver. We wish him all the best for the future, but for now let’s enjoy the end of the season together.”
