Zach Brown: I hope Ricciardo will start in 2023

According to Zack Brown, he is surprised that the collaboration with Daniel Ricciardo has not produced the desired result and the parties will have to end the once promising relationship prematurely.

Also, the executive director of McLaren Racing hinted that he was offering the Australian to move to another series where McLaren teams play, but, as far as one can understand, he disagreed.

“We’re all surprised that there weren’t more results like the success at Monza – I think it would be fair to highlight this,” the US edition of Racer quoted Zach Brown as saying. – Of course Daniel has an excellent track record. When he joined our team he had seven wins, now there are eight, and there are nine races left before the end of the season – who knows how things will go in the time remaining.

I’m not going to talk about the details of his contract, but I’ll say we’ve come to an agreement that is mutually beneficial. I also really hope Daniel will start in the championship next year. We don’t know anything about his plans, but he wants to stay in Formula 1.

It was not on our minds not to have Daniel race elsewhere in 2023 with Andreas Seidl and we hope his career will continue. He remains and always will be a friend of the McLaren family – I hope he can recover his form in a new place.

We are all still fans of Daniel Ricciardo. McLaren Racing has programs in other racing series and if this interests him we would be happy to talk about it. But let him talk about his plans himself, although I believe he is mainly interested in Formula 1 now.

It’s worth recalling that the Australian’s invitation to McLaren was a personal initiative by Zach Brown, and the first attempt to reach an agreement on cooperation dates back to 2018, but did not finally start until 2021.

“I think we will miss Daniel, he has given a lot to our team – continued Brown. – We know what Riccardo is capable of and I think it was him who helped Lando Norris improve his skills. Commercially Daniel was also a very attractive driver, he is very popular with the fans and all of this gave our race team extra energy, so I think he had a very big positive impact on McLaren.

Daniel is a great person, it is very interesting to communicate with him, we often had fun together. So I also consider it on a personal level. It is a pity that our hopes did not come true. But we are engaged in entrepreneurship, we are mainly interested in the end result.

We wish Daniel all the best, we say goodbye to him in a good way, there is no animosity between us … And it is possible that one day he will give us a lot of trouble on the track because he is a very strong opponent .
