On the eve of the Belgian Grand Prix, McLaren announced the end of its partnership with Daniel Ricciardo at the end of the season. Commenting on the news at a press conference in Spa, Max Verstappen expressed the hope that his former Red Bull Racing teammate would find a place in another team and continue his career in Formula 1.
Max Verstappen: “Daniel was in a situation where the car didn’t suit him. As far as I understand there was no real improvement, so at one point the rider and the team said to each other, “Maybe it would be better if we all went our separate ways.” This sometimes happens in racing.
Daniel should be racing in Formula 1. First of all, he is a great person. I have a good relationship with him and I hope he finds a place for himself. But now he must act. I don’t know where he wants to go or if there’s a place for him.”
