Alpine brought several new features to Spa, including optimized rear brake channels and a modified underbody. Esteban Ocon was forced to miss the first practice due to problems with the drive shaft and rain prevented the second practice, but the team is satisfied with the results of the day.
Fernando Alonso (7th): “When you drive a Formula 1 car in Spa, you feel an adrenaline rush – even on Friday it was fun! After the reconstruction, the track has remained the same – only the departure zones have changed, making it safer.
Due to the changeable weather it was not possible to work completely with rubber – tomorrow we will try to complete this program in the third practice. The car looks good, I hope we can fight with rivals.
Esteban Ocon (16th): “It’s great to be behind the wheel again after the summer holidays and to drive on this classic track.
Friday was not easy for me. There was a problem with the drive shaft at the start of the first session, so I had to miss most of the session, and in the second it started to rain, which prevented us from completing the programme. We have something to do tomorrow, yet we have collected enough data to prepare for this work.
