Charles Leclerc set the second fastest time in the second practice session of the Belgian Grand Prix, but lost more than eight tenths to leader Max Verstappen. Commenting on the results of the session, Charles said Friday’s results are difficult to judge on the balance of power this weekend. His partner Carlos Sainz showed the fifth fastest time.
Charles Leclerc (2nd): “It’s great to get back behind the wheel after a break. We did a lot of laps in different weather conditions, including the rain, which was on certain parts of the track. Although it is difficult to determine the joining of forces this weekend as the teams worked on different programs.
Tomorrow we will focus on race pace. Given the penalty with the loss of positions at the start, qualifying doesn’t matter much to me.
Carlos Sainz (5th): “All in all, a good Friday. In the first practice I was satisfied with the balance of the car. In the second we changed a few things, but it didn’t work as we expected, so the feel of the car changed a bit.
However, I am sure that tomorrow we will know how to play time. We have a good pace in the long series, so I think we have a good chance this weekend.”
