Ferrari decided to change the powerplant of Charles Leclerc’s car before the Belgian stage of the championship, hoping that the nature of the circuit at Spa would allow him to bounce back and finish in a fairly high place.
The Monegask has long exhausted the limit of power plants and their key elements for the season, now it is getting its fifth engine in a row, so it will start again from the last row. As part of this replacement, car #16 will also see an upgraded version of the hybrid system for the first time, which should provide some power gains.
All of this will help Leclerc fight for victory in the next two stages at Zandvoort and especially Monza, which is especially important for Ferrari.
Carlos Sainz’s car will have the same power plant, no fines will threaten him, so the Spaniard’s chance of success in the Belgian Grand Prix is very high. Moreover, it cannot be ruled out that the engines of one of its rivals can also be replaced, but this has not yet been announced.
