Max Verstappen was fastest in qualifying at Spa and his result was more than six tenths better than his closest rival. But due to a fine for replacing the power plant, the Dutch rider of Red Bull Racing will have to start from a distant 15th position.
Max Verstappen: “Qualifying went well, but we were focused on it from the start. The car drives great and just needed some fine tuning. Today everything went as it should, although it was of course important to calculate accurately how many sets of rubber we can use.
Now we are gearing up for tomorrow’s race where I have to start at the back of the pack, but I am very happy with the way I did the lap.
It’s always great to play at Spa – it’s a great course, incredible fans, and I hope they enjoyed it today. My job for tomorrow is to move forward, and if we can’t get on the podium with a car like that, I’ll be upset.”
