Aston Martin had a failed qualifying at Spa, but due to penalties from rivals both drivers start in the top ten…
Mike Krak, team leader: “Sebastian only missed two thousandths lost in the first corner to get to the second part of qualifying. Lance also lost time in the first corner, but went further and finished 14th.
Of course we would have liked to have performed better in qualifying, but thanks to the penalties from our opponents we will start ninth and tenth tomorrow. Our goal is to maintain these positions at the finish by earning points with two cars.”
Lance Walk (14th): “Qualifying was not easy. There wasn’t enough grip, we have to figure out where we were losing time. We hoped for a better result than 14th place.
We usually do better in races than in qualifying. Tomorrow we will move up a few positions due to opponent penalties – there is a chance to earn points.”
Sebastian Vettel (16th): “I know I could have gone faster, but the last fast lap wasn’t perfect. During the day it was not possible to put everything together – in the morning I had more confidence in the car and in qualifying it slipped, leading to a loss of time.
Tomorrow we will regain a few positions because of penalties. We can’t keep the faster cars behind us, but a higher starting position increases our chances.”
