Ferrari driver Carlos Sainz starts from pole at Spa but believes Max Verstappen could win the race by starting 15th due to the penalty…
Carlos Sainz: “I don’t think I could have gone faster in qualifying. The circle was fairly clean. I lost a little bit in a run of 5-6-7 innings, but no more than the tenth. And when I see Max’s hole, I don’t understand how it can be played.
How much faster was he? Seven or eight tenths? And so it was all weekend, in all practices, on every lineup. Obviously we need to work on speed.
Given Max’s speed, I don’t think only Sergio and I will fight for the win. He will be able to recover for 44 laps, even without a safety car. We have seen this many times before. At the track, of course, I won’t think about it. I have my own struggles – with Sergio and Mercedes, but I won’t give up if these two guys are behind.
If I showed the time on Saturday that Max showed, I would be sure of the win. He has a good chance.”
