For the fourth time this season, the McLaren team did not earn points at the end of the Grand Prix, leaving Alpine behind in the battle for fourth place in the Constructors’ Championship…
Lando Norris (12th): “The race turned out to be difficult, but I knew it would be. It was not easy to overtake and I was also stuck in a group of cars using DRS. We did our best, but we couldn’t achieve more.
There are also positive aspects. For the Spa stage we modified the car a bit and it worked. Unfortunately, there was not enough speed to fight the opponents. We are going to try to win back in Zandvoort.”
Daniel Riccardo (15th): “I don’t want to sound pessimistic, but before the start of the race I knew that because of the version of the rear wing chosen the day before, it was not going to be easy for us in the first and third sectors. I was hoping that in the second sector there would be enough speed to try something, but it was impossible to overtake.
However, I didn’t just have problems with overtaking. It was possible to fight on a free track, but if you got stuck in a group of cars, you just lost time. Lando had the same problems, I think our car just wasn’t fast enough here. I hope the weekend in Zandvoort goes better.”
