Verstappen: In the coming races we will get a new chassis

The Belgian Grand Prix ended with the fourth double win of the season for Red Bull Racing. The race was won by Max Verstappen, who started fourteenth. Sergio Perez has moved up to second in the individual standings thanks to second place, but is 93 points behind his partner. The current world champion promises not to stop there and is looking forward to a new lightweight chassis in the coming races.

Max Verstappen (1st): “The car drove great all weekend. We were competitive from the first round. Before the start I knew we have a chance of a good result today.

Even with a car like ours it was difficult to count on a win from 14th position because it is impossible to predict whether there will be losses in the first lap and what will happen.

A lot happened in the first lap, but luckily I avoided all the problems. After the situation behind the safety car calmed down, I started overtaking the rivals lap after lap and climbed up to third, while the soft tires remained fast. Then I realized I had a good chance of winning.

In future races we will get a new chassis. I don’t know how much easier it will be, but if it works, it will help us.”

Sergio Perez (2nd): “Today Max performed on a different level. I had a bad first stint on Medium – the tires deteriorated a lot. As a result, Max drove much faster. I ran out of new Soft setups, so I had to use this strategy.

The track in Spa is quite unique and has long straights, which we spent a lot of time on. I think we will see a more familiar picture in Zandvoort.”
