Marco: We want four more wins

In the first 14 rounds of the championship, Max Verstappen has already taken nine wins – for comparison we can recall that he won ten races all through last season, when he won the title in a tough clash with Lewis Hamilton.

The Belgian Grand Prix ended with a double win for Red Bull Racing, and Helmut Marko, Austrian Red Bull Motorsport Adviser, noted that achieving such success was easier than you might expect.

Helmut Marko: “It was easier than we thought. To be honest we weren’t very confident, but after the first few laps we saw that when the track was clear for Max he was going much faster than everyone else. He ran the race with a lot of confidence. Lately, he’s been winning races with incredible ease.

This was made possible by the combination of confidence with the highest level of racing prowess displayed by Verstappen. Plus, our cars have reliable engines that let you fight for victories. So now everything is going very well.

In the individual standings, Max has a more than convincing lead, but there are still eight races to go, 25 points to be earned for every win, plus Saturday’s sprint is in Brazil, so we can’t afford it just yet to relax. We continue to work, mainly because there are many aspects that we need to improve. In the remaining races we want to get four more wins.

When we talk about Sergio Perez, he is certainly making progress, but he has to be fully involved in the work from the first practice. Perhaps then, through concerted efforts, we can win a few more victorious doubles. And then the Red Bull Racing drivers will finish the championship for the first time in 1st and 2nd place in the individual standings – this is our next goal.
