Sebastien Loeb makes his DTM debut behind the wheel of a Ferrari

At present, the first DTM race of the 2022 season is taking place in Portimão, and Sebastien Loeb, a nine-time World Rally Champion and generally a universally trained driver, who took second place in the Dakar rally raid last January, made his mark. his debut in it.

But this time, the famous Frenchman is driving a Ferrari sports car, replacing Nick Cassidy in the AlphaTauri AF Corse team, and before the start of the race, he spoke about his hopes of debuting in a new category for himself.

“DTM is a pretty difficult class for me. There is a very high level of competition here, the best race masters of GT racing here,” admitted Loeb. – I am not an expert in this class and the last time I raced GT was in 2013. That was a long time ago and a lot has changed since then. But I’ll do my best because I don’t feel any pressure, I’m gradually adding speed, so overall I’m happy.

I will try not to finish last. It’s unlikely I’ll be able to fight at the forefront, but let’s see what pace I’ll be able to. We have to understand where the boundaries are and to some extent adapt the way of governance. The brakes on these cars are equipped with ABS, which I am not used to, so I have to have more confidence in the car.

Her behavior on the track is very different from what I’m used to, from my way of driving. The hardest thing for me to find are those last tenths of a second, which are needed to be competitive.

Behind the wheel of GT3 cars you have to brake very aggressively, because your pace largely depends on this. You have to steer carefully, but at the same time aggressively, and finding this compromise is very difficult.
