Kevin Magnussen I love the Dutch job

In an interview with the Haas press service, team driver Kevin Magnussen shared his expectations for the upcoming Dutch Grand Prix.

Question: Formula 1 is going to Zandvoort. Do you have experience with this track in junior racing series? What do you expect from the circuit behind the wheel of Formula 1?
Kevin Magnussen: I raced in Zandvoort in Formula 3, and yes, in Formula Renault 2.0. I’ve always liked this song. It’s changed a bit since the last time I raced, but from what I saw on TV the nature of the track hasn’t changed and it’s still interesting.

Q: Is the Zandvoort track suitable for the VF-22?
Kevin Magnussen: I don’t know if the VF-22 track is suitable, but it will be great to drive a Formula 1 car. This track came to us from the 70s and 80s, so I will have a slight sense of nostalgia behind the wheel. I look forward to the stage.

Question: One of the features of the track is the banking. Can you explain what the rider thinks about it, and do the benches give more opportunities to overtake?
Kevin Magnussen: I like banking because you can use different trajectories in it, allowing you to closely follow and overtake rivals. I think that thanks to the new generation of cars in Zandvoort, overtaking will be easier and we will see more overtaking, as we already did in Hungary.

Q: Does the team have time during the build phases to optimize the car or are you just collecting data for analysis?
Kevin Magnussen: During the summer holidays we closed the base for two weeks when no one was working, but we hope that now we will continue to learn something new on the weekends. This will continue until the end of the year, just like the car we started the season with – gradually we understood its characteristics better, which is great. Hopefully we will continue to make progress with the latest updates and win back time.

The redesigned car behaves a little differently in fast corners, but in a good way, so I’m happy. I hope this continues. There are still some things to work on, but it will be interesting to see how fast we will be on the highways.
