McLaren is preparing for the Dutch Grand Prix, hoping to make up for a poor performance at Spa, where the team’s drivers did not earn points.
Lando Norris: “I really like racing in Zandvoort and even when I competed in the junior classes I got very good results there.
Elevations and turns create a roller coaster feel – overall I’m looking forward to seeing how we get on this track and try to do our best. In addition, the atmosphere on this track is always incredible and I like to think that most fans in orange support McLaren.
Last weekend it became clear that we have a lot of work to do to compete with Alpine. I have full confidence in the team and I know that we will do our best and keep attacking. The next two races are crucial, so you have to stay focused and work hard.”
Daniel Ricardo: “I am happy to prepare for the race in Zandvoort, on this beautiful track, because it is a great pleasure to race there. The race is accompanied by an almost festival atmosphere and that creates a great atmosphere from the start of the weekend.
It’s an old-school track with interesting sections like the Tarzan bend and you can overtake on it. Overall, I’m glad we’re returning to Zandvoort – let’s see what kind of sensations await us on the new generation machines compared to last year.
I’ve spent the past two days in Amsterdam getting used to it, enjoying local delicacies and thinking about what I can do to perform better this weekend.
In Spa things didn’t go the way we wanted, but we’ve managed to win back before and now we’ll try to do the same. After the Belgian weekend we made some conclusions, and now we will need them. Let’s hope we can come out with more confidence and fight Alpine.”
Andreas Seidli, Team principal: “Zandvoort is an incredibly fast track with many memorable historical moments. Let’s see how the new cars will show up there, and what happens with overtaking, because on this track the riders can fight for wheel-to-wheel position. The merits of the route include both elevation changes and high-speed sections, which are very interesting to overcome.
Over the past few days we have analyzed the results of the past weekend and tried to draw as many lessons as possible. The results in Spa did not meet our expectations, but in Zandvoort we will have the opportunity to use the findings to improve the efficiency of the machine.”
