The fate of this year’s title will be determined by the refinement of the car in the face of budget constraints. Ferrari team boss Mattia Binotto believes the Scuderia is better prepared for this this year than before…
Mattia Binotto: “It is a challenge not only for us, but for all teams to maintain a high competitive position during such a long season.
Our rivals have a lot of experience and before that, in 2017 and 2018, we lost positions during the season. But since then we have refined the wind tunnel, improved our processes and technologies, updated the simulator and are now much better prepared for this “arms race”.
In the first two races there was practically no difference in results, but in those areas where we were inferior because of the power plant at the beginning of last season, there is now no backlog.
Now everyone is limited by the budget, which will affect the development speed and may change the rules of the game. It is important not to spend all the money on the first race. We won’t have any major updates in Melbourne, but as soon as we can bring something, we’ll do it.”
