Before the start of the weekend in Zandvoort, the head of the Mercedes team remembered the last stage at the Spa and talked about the challenges for the upcoming Grand Prix…
Toto Wolff: “The Belgian stage turned out to be difficult for our team, but these weekends make you dig deeper. It went through ups and downs – on Friday and Saturday we underperformed a lot, and in the race Lewis dropped out on lap one and George struggled for the podium.
We have worked hard to solve the problems in the Spa. Fortunately, the wait isn’t long – in a few days we can use this experience and find the answer. In the remaining races, everything depends on how quickly and effectively we will learn to get the best results this year and next.
Prior to the Grand Prix of the Netherlands, this stage was accompanied by a festive atmosphere last year. This is an interesting old school circuit with sharp turns and a challenging character. We look forward to returning and taking on the challenge with this year’s car.”
