Before the start of the weekend in Zanfort, the Head of Chassis Efficiency of the Ferrari team answered three questions from the press service…
Q: How did you fall in love with motorsport? And how did you end up at Ferrari?
Marco Adurno: I fell in love with motorsport as a child, sitting on my father’s lap and watching Ferrari’s performance in Formula 1. I once dreamed of being part of this world. In 2007 I had the opportunity to work in the British team, this experience allowed me to move to Ferrari in 2019.
Question: Tell us about the characteristics of the track in Zandvoort…
Marco Adurno: The setup today is different from the 1980s when the podium was an integral part of the calendar. A unique feature of the track is the slope at turns 3 and 14 with a steepness of up to 16 degrees.
Q: The Dutch track puts serious strain on the tires. How do you prepare for such races?
Marco Adurno: The track wears out the tires a lot, especially the front tires. A key success factor for qualifying is good aerodynamic balance in medium and high speed corners, without compromising the stability of the car. And in the race, a compromise has to be found between settings that protect the tires on the one hand and meet the rider’s wishes on the other.
