Max Verstappen became a Knight in the Order of Orange-Nassau (Order of Orange-Nassau) – the state prize of the Kingdom of the Netherlands, which is awarded to people for some special merit. It is clear that in the case of the reigning world champion we are talking about his achievements in motorsport.
The order was handed over to the Red Bull Racing driver by Connie Helder, Minister of Sport of the Netherlands. During the ceremony she emphasized that winning the title is much more difficult than just being a talented racer, but Max has an unbending will to win and that is why he went down in history as the first Dutch Formula 1 champion.
“It is a great honor to receive such an award. I am very grateful to my family and all my loved ones for the support I have received since the early years of my racing career,” said Verstappen in retrospect at the official ceremony. – I also want to thank Red Bull and my personal sponsors – without such support I could not rise to such a high level.
In addition, I would like to thank all my fans, especially the Orange Army – it is very nice to see so many compatriots worrying about me now. I am in good spirits preparing for the Dutch Grand Prix this weekend.”
