Lando Norris: We are back to our usual positions

Lando Norris set the fourth fastest time in the second practice session of the Dutch Grand Prix, losing a tenth of a second to leader Charles Leclerc. His teammate Daniel Ricciardo closed the session with a tenth result, lost time due to an oil leak. McLaren has assessed the results of the first day of the race weekend positively.

Lando Norris (4th): “Good day. On the track, which is different from Spa, we returned to more familiar positions – closer to the leaders in the middle group, which is positive.

The car drove reasonably well with an empty and a full tank. I think we are in a good position. The battle is still tight, both in front of us and right behind us. If we can squeeze a little more out of the car in qualifying, then we have a good chance of good points on Sunday.”

Daniel Riccardo (10th): “It’s great to be back on track – training turned out to be interesting. Unfortunately I lost time in the second session due to an oil leak, but Lando’s pace looks promising.

For the second session, we adjusted the settings. It seems to have worked, so we’re confident we’re on the right track. Now it is important to assemble the circle, but I have no doubt that tomorrow it will be possible to do it. All in all a good day for the team.”

Andrea Stella, race director: “We had a productive day. There were several technical issues, mainly with the radiator on Daniel’s car, which resulted in a shorter second practice session and he was unable to work on a long run at the end of the session.

The rest of the day went well. We started to better understand the tires and the direction of work with the settings. Looks like we’re looking better than last week at the Spa. We are looking forward to qualifying and the race, although there is work to be done tonight to look as competitive as possible.”
