At Zandvoort, both Alpine drivers scored points, allowing the team to extend their lead over McLaren for fourth place in the Constructors’ Championship…
Fernando Alonso (6th): “Have a good flight. I finished sixth, earned a lot of points. I lost a few places at the beginning, but I was able to recover by switching to hard tires early. The car allowed me to drive at a high pace, I kept attacking.
The only time I felt I could relax a bit was after the switch to Soft, but the safety car pulled away and everything started over. I did my best to withstand the attacks of those in the back on fresher tires – the pace in the closing laps was the same as in qualifying.
Another good result, I have scored points for the tenth race in a row and I am ready to continue this series in Italy next week.”
Esteban Ocon (9th): “I’m happy to have earned points after coming back from a bad qualifying. We have increased the lead over McLaren again, which is important in the battle for position in the Constructors’ Championship. I had a great start and gained a few places in the first round which allowed me to earn points.
There is always something to add. We will think about how we can do better next time. Only a week left until the next race – I’m already looking forward to Monza. I like the Italian track, it suits our car and I hope for a good result.”
