W Series participants test Formula 3 car

W Series entrants Abby Pulling, Chloe Chambers and Teresa Babichkova take part in the Formula 3 car test, which will take place September 16-17 at the French circuit of Magny-Cours. Together with them, the new technique is being tested by Formula 4 driver Hamda Al-Kubaisi.

For all girls this will be the first experience of driving a Formula 3 car, during the tests they will be able to evaluate the properties of the technique and work with the settings. On the first day, Pulling and Al-Kubaisi will work on the track, and on the second they will be replaced behind the wheel by Chambers and Babichkova.

Last year, W Series participants got the chance to test Formula 3 cars for the first time, when Irina Sidorkova was one of the first to drive.

Bruno Michel, head of Formula 3: “It is important to us that more and more girls participate in our championship. Diversity is one of the most important discussions about the future of motorsport.

Last year we ran such tests for the first time, inviting Nereya Marty, Irina Sidorkova, Dorian Pin and Maya Voig, and they all confirmed that one-day tests were helpful in understanding the requirements of our championship. This year we have chosen four more entrants, but not only from the W Series, but also from other categories.

The purpose of the tests is not to compare their speed, but to make them understand what is required of a Formula 3 driver in all respects. This way they can prepare for the challenges and hopefully go to our racing series in the near future. ”

Stefano Domenicalic, Head of Formula 1: “Giving more opportunities to drivers is a top priority for Formula 1 and the whole sport. These tests, the second of their kind, will give the four talented participants a real opportunity to show their potential to teams and make a name for themselves in the years to come.”
