Esteban Ocon: Italian track must fit on A522

Esteban Ocon scored points in five races in a row. At the Italian Grand Prix, the Alpine driver plans to continue his scoring streak.

Q: How do you feel for the final leg of the built series of races?
Esteban OconA: I feel good and full of energy. The car was fast in the previous two races and we are going for a good result to complete the built series. I took a few days off to recuperate after Zandvoort and prepare for one of my favorite races at Monza. I like racing in Italy because I spent a lot of time in this country when I was karting.

We have secured fourth place in the Constructors’ Championship, so the whole team is in a good mood. We go to the track, which has to fit in our car.

Q: What do you think of the historic circuit in Monza?
Esteban Ocon: The race at Monza will be very different from Zandvoort. On the Italian circuit we see long straights, chicanes and fast corners. Monza’s fast-paced nature contributes to a tight fight in qualifying and an exciting race. The Italian fans will, as usual, create a great atmosphere on this historic stage.

Q: What can you expect from the A522 car on an Italian high-speed circuit?
Esteban Ocon: In theory, the track fits our car. We performed very well in the Spa, which bears a certain resemblance to Monza. When choosing car settings, the main focus is on speed on long straights, but it is important to maintain balance so as not to lose time on bends, on curbs and when changing direction, especially in the Ascari combination .

Teams usually run into trouble setting up their cars for low downforce and Monza has some of the lowest downforce of the season but we are confident in the A522 and look forward to finishing the European leg of the season with two cars scoring points.
