After four races of the season, Mick Schumacher did not score a single point. In an interview with the team’s press service, the Haas driver spoke about his expectations for the upcoming Miami Grand Prix.
Q: What do you expect from the stage in Miami?
Mick Schumacher: In fact, I’ve never been to Miami before, and only driven through the city once. I’m looking forward to the upcoming trip as I’ve always wanted to go to Miami. Local beaches are known all over the world, my hotel is near the shoreline so most likely I will go to the beach. But of course I’m really looking forward to the race.
Q: Can you tell us about the circuit in Miami and the overtaking opportunities?
Mick Schumacher: I haven’t driven the track yet, so it’s hard to say what it’s like, but racing in the US is always fun. The organizers always arrange interesting shows, invite celebrities with whom you usually do not have the opportunity to meet, so that the television broadcast is bright.
It’s great that Formula 1 is becoming more and more American in a way. There are great fans in the US and I enjoy every visit to the country. I’m glad there are more and more races in the United States.
Q: It’s no secret that you love the US. Next season there are three races in the States on the calendar. What attracts you so much?
Mick Schumacher: What attracts me to the US is that the country is not like the others. I wouldn’t say I just love the US. For example, I like Australia, I like the mountains in Northern Norway or Switzerland, but America… My sister says the sky in the United States seems bigger, and in a way it is! The people are very nice – last year I was stopped by a cop and he was kind enough to let me inspect his patrol car. It was fun.
Q: The first five races of the season are held in countries around the world. How do you stay strong and focused?
Mick Schumacher: I arrive early at the places where we race to spend more time there. I arrived in Australia a week earlier, same story with Miami. I try to come early to get into the rhythm. After the race I immediately fly home to quickly get used to the European time zone, because there are European stages ahead.
In most places I try to stay in places with a gym. When I go to places like Texas I am usually on my feet all day, but if there are opportunities to work out at the gym then this is a bonus for me.
