Magnussen: There are overtaking opportunities in Miami

On the eve of the Miami Grand Prix, Haas driver Kevin Magnussen spoke about his expectations for the upcoming round and assessed his performance in the opening races of the season.

Q: What do you expect from the stage in Miami?
Kevin Magnussen: I’ve been to Miami a few times. Last year I attended the IMSA in the US and spent some time in the city. I was also on vacation in Miami when I was offered a job at Haas! I’m looking forward to returning as the race has already created a lot of excitement, which is great.

Q: Can you tell us about the circuit in Miami and the overtaking opportunities?
Kevin Magnussen: There are two long straights on the track with excellent overtaking opportunities at the end. The track combines fast and slow sections. The part from Turn 4 to Turn 11 is very fast, and from 11th to 16th it’s incredibly slow. Given these factors and two long straights, I hope we have an interesting race ahead.

Q: Are you already established in Formula 1 after four rounds of the season? What do you think of the new generation of cars?
Kevin Magnussen: I believe the transition to a new generation of cars has brought about positive changes because they allow you to fight and attack more. I like these cars.

I feel like I’ve settled in, but I’m still working hard to get back into optimal shape. However, I have already made some progress and am not standing still.

Q: The first five races of the season are held in countries around the world. How do you stay strong and focused?
Kevin Magnussen: I was looking forward to coming back to these tracks and so far every race has been a joyful event for me. I’m still looking forward to the upcoming stages, both in Europe and beyond.

It’s nice to be back on track that I have fond memories of. I know some European tracks from performances in junior series. I look forward to returning to legendary tracks such as Silverstone, Monza and Spa. There are big fans there.
