Toto Wolff, head of the Mercedes team, summarized the results of the previous phase and said they had decided on different areas of work with the car, so Miami plans to conduct a series of experiments that will confirm the findings.
Toto Wolff: “The weekend in Imola was very tough for us. George did a great job and finished 4th, although he didn’t start from the best position, but speaking of Lewis we couldn’t give him a car that could show his true speed.
After returning from Italy, analyzing the collected information, we tried to draw all possible conclusions and continued to work in parallel in the wind tunnel and on the simulator. We have decided to modernize the car in several areas and in Miami we will conduct a series of experiments to understand the extent to which our conclusions are confirmed on the track. Hopefully for the next races we can confirm which of the directions will be taken.
Before the Miami stage, both drivers were working on the simulator and the team was busy producing new elements for future races.
There is a proverb: “In a calm sea no good sailors can be raised.” For many years, our team has shown resilience, and the difficult start to the season challenged the staff of the team alone, everyone is determined to correct the situation.
In Miami, a new challenge awaits us, as well as a step into the unknown. It looks to be a tough track with an interesting combination of slow and fast turns, and it promises to be a spectacular show for the growing army of American fans. Overall, we are preparing for an interesting race and we can’t wait to see how it all goes.”
