Porsche’s acquisition of a 50% stake in the Red Bull team will not happen, reports F1-Initiate .
“Porsche will not become our shareholder,” said Red Bull adviser Helmut Marko.
Earlier, it was reported that Porsche had applied for approval to acquire a 50% stake in the Red Bull team. The deal was due to be announced at the Austrian Grand Prix but was pushed back at the last minute as the FIA World Motor Sport Council was unable to approve engine rules from 2026 .
According to the source, an alternative option for Porsche is the acquisition of the McLaren team.
Red Bull driver Max Verstappen is the reigning world champion and leads the drivers’ standings this season, while the team also leads the constructors’ championship.
