Head of Mercedes Toto Wolf responded to an incident during the qualifying round of the Dutch Formula 1 Grand Prix.
The second qualifying segment was halted for several minutes by red flags due to a flare being thrown onto the track by fans. The second rocket was also launched towards the track later, but this did not lead to a stoppage in qualifying.
“It’s a shame there are some complete idiots out there who don’t consider what a flare can do to a driver. If something like that hits you, it can be deadly. We watched replays of the cameras and Lewis was rolling in the pit lane. I don’t know if anyone threw it at him, but it happened before it got to that point. Hopefully the organizers can handle that,” Wolff said.
The Dutchman wins the qualification Max Verstappen (“Red Bull”). The driver of “Mercedes” Lewis Hamilton took fourth place.
The Dutch Grand Prix is scheduled for September 4. From 4:00 p.m. (Moscow time).
