Alpine riders Esteban Ocon and Fernando Alonso set eighth and ninth fastest times in the second practice session of the Italian Grand Prix. The team is pleased with the speed of the car and is confident they can repeat today’s results in Saturday’s qualifying.
Esteban Ocon (8th): “It is always a pleasure for me to perform in Italy and in Monza. Overall a good Friday for our team – we had two productive sessions and both cars were in the top ten. We focused on our own tasks and looked for ways to add tomorrow.
In the evening, the team will analyze the data collected and possible scenarios for the race, given the numerous fines and the fact that many have worked on different programs today. We are fully focused on a good qualifying session.”
Fernando Alonso (9th): “We spent another productive Friday in Monza today. The team tested everything they wanted and gathered useful information about the performance of the tires.
It looks like the straight line swing has increased this weekend compared to previous rounds, but otherwise the training was smooth and productive. ”
Alan Permain, sports director: “The team in Monza had a typical Friday – both our cars were comfortably in the top ten. We worked according to the standard schedule, were not faced with any surprises and were prepared for the rest of the weekend.
Given yesterday’s news of Her Majesty’s passing, the weekend is proceeding under dire circumstances. As an Anglo-French team, we are committed this weekend to honor her achievements and legacy.”
