British driver Alice Powell was invited to Alpine F1 to take on the role of mentor in the youth programme. Powell, 29, is competing in the W Series Women’s Championship and will be at the Alpine Academy to seek out racing talent and help them develop.
She will pay special attention to working with young riders. At the academy, she will work closely with Abby Pulling, another Briton who joined Alpine Academy last year.
Alice Powell: “There are more and more opportunities for women to get involved in motorsport, but they often lack experience and mentors early in their careers.
The Alpine Academy has its place in the motorsport hierarchy and is a well-deserved trust. The role of mentoring is very important. We need to change the mindset of young women and instill in them the quality of perseverance so that they realize there are opportunities for motorsport, but they need to be fought and seized with both hands.
I am delighted to join the Alpine F1 team as a talent scouting mentor. †
