Saturday morning it was announced about the replacement in the Williams until the end of the race weekend in Monza. Instead of Alex Albon, who has health problems, Nick de Vries will lead Saturday’s practice, qualifying and race.
“Williams Racing confirm that Alex Albon felt unwell this morning and sought medical help from the FIA and a local hospital,” the British team said in a statement. Alex is currently being treated for appendicitis.
Based on this, we can confirm that reserve driver Nick de Vries will replace Alex for the remaining sessions of the Italian Grand Prix race weekend. Alex is in a good mood and the team wishes him a speedy recovery.”
On Friday Nick de Vries worked out the first free practice behind the wheel of an Aston Martin. For last year’s Formula E champion, Sunday’s race at Monza will be his debut in Formula 1.
