The fate of the Formula 3 title was decided in the final race of the season in Monza. The 2022 champion is ART rider and Alpine Youth Academy participant Victor Marten. Immediately after the finish, struggling to hold back tears of joy, the French rider commented on his success.
Victor Marten: “I just don’t have words for it, I’ve worked so hard… Speaking of the race, I can’t say I had a great run. I tried to focus on my task and get off to a good start. I saw the guys up front taking risks but I was determined to win the title so I tried to stay out of trouble and earn points.
In the race I did everything in my power. The title means a lot to me, but the last race, penalties, waiting for the results – it was already too much for me.
A few years ago I won in Formula Renault and then two difficult years in Formula 3. I knew I had the potential to win the title and kept believing in myself. I knew I was good enough to win and continue my career. After each difficult season I got stronger and knew that the experience gained would help me improve. I think this is just the beginning of a successful future.
I don’t know what to expect next season. I have done my job and know that I am surrounded by the right people. Alpine will do everything possible for me. Maybe one day I will become a Formula 1 driver.”
